IRAQ SURVIVOR

Spc. Shane Parham, 30, a member of Georgia National Guard's 48th Brigade that served in Iraq, lost eight fellow soldiers in the span of two weeks. Parham, who says he feels guilty that he came back alive, stands alone in the field outside his country home. Parham said in war your fellow soldiers become your surrogate family, which helps explain why the experience haunts him today.
